Kate and Cecy ride again
I've been waiting months to post this!

I've been informed that Harcourt intends to make an offer (details unknown) for the book Patricia Wrede and I have been working on since last spring. It's the next book after _The Grand Tour_, and is still untitled. But we're really having fun with it.

Waah! I wanna read it _now_!

Isn't _The Grand Tour_ due out in a month or two?

Excellent!!!

(Er, I should mention that I've managed to read a prepublication copy of The Grand Tour, and really enjoyed it. I was rather hoping there might be more. And I'm intensely smug about recognising a reference before the protagonists did, due to immersion in The Golden Bough at an early age.)

I'm glad it held up for you. And that you recognized the fell influence of the Golden Bough. If Mary Stewart hadn't used it in, what, _Fire at Midnight_? who knows when I would have stumbled across it.

Literature is a rich tapestry and everyone else's weavings keep on showing up. Or should that be "Hey! Look at cool thing I found! Will use!" (That's what I seem to end up doing half the time...)

Well, the sales rep just dropped off a copy of the ARC for THE GRAND TOUR to the bookstore at which I work. It's -- I don't know if you see the ARCs, because I never see any of mine <wry g> -- very nicely produced, and there's something sparkly & embossed on the cover.

I am really looking forward to reading it, and earlier than I thought I'd be able to as well.

God bless the sales reps. Glad to see they're on the gob.

And I'm with you. Harcourt is the exception that proves the rule for me with covers.

Horray!!! That's great news!

I have a swiss-cheese brain, and while I *think* I told you that the book arrived and thanked you for it, when I was re-reading it a couple weeks ago, I was suddenly struck with the horrible fear that I hadn't.

Thank you *very* much for the book. I've been enjoying it very much -- such delightful characters.

Glad _Scholar_ arrived safely. Sorry it was so long overdue, but I had to wait for the authors copies. Thank you again for your help fixing the rough draft blunders.

There wasn't much for you to fix at all -- your work, as always, was excellent. I've already pre-ordered The Grand Tour. I do so love your characters.

Two! Wow. I love seeing a copy that's been worn to flinders. There is no higher praise. Of course, I have shelves of ratty paperbacks I've worn to flinders myself, so that's why I think so.

Thanks.

Sorcery & Cecilia is one of my "comfort reads," fitting the governess' definition of fiction in Importance of Being Ernest. "The good end happily, the bad unhappily."
